Life’s lessons

You’re never too old to learn!
I’ve been out twice so far today, cutting down snow and ice laden trees bent over blocking the road, until my hand get too cold and I’d come in for a break.

Well I’ve learned two things;

First: if your cutting ice encrusted trees at 0° F. (-18°C.) and you turn the chain saw off for a few minutes while moving wood around, when you try to restart it you just might find the chain is frozen and it, oddly enough, doesn’t cut very well at all if the chain is not turning!

Second: If you gas up the chainsaw when it’s cold (zero) and you tighten the gas cap good and tight, and you double check to be sure it’s tight.. even then, as the saw warms up, the plastic cap expands and the saw’s vibration loosens the cap and you find the saw doesn’t run very well with a puddle of gas on the snow and none in the tank.

Nope, you’re never too old to learn something new and I probably won’t forget these two important, hard taught, life’s lessons, at lest not until next winter.
